Carl Skooglund of The Insight Meditation Community of Washington, DC, will present a Dharma talk followed by discussion and refreshments.The talk is titled”Calm, Watch & Guide the Mind: The Roots of Practice.” Carl shares that the talk is meant to distill the array of teachings and practices we encounter these days into something that helps us deepen our practice.

Carl Skooglund is a charter member of the board of Insight Meditation Community of Washington, DC. Carl taught the first IMC-W Family Meditation class from 2000-2010. He has participated in IMC-W’s sutta study groups since 2002 and trained with Spirit Rock’s Community Dharma Leader program from 2005-2008. Since 2015 Carl has been on the regular teacher rotation of the IMC-W Takoma Park class. He is the author of the article The Question of Essential Human Goodness, Keeping Your Eye on the Ball, and Book Review: The Making of Buddhist Modernism, by David McMahon.
