**By getting quiet and practicing meditation, we begin to see more clearly how to uproot the seeds of our suffering which come from greed, hatred and ignorance. The Buddha taught that there are ways we can explore and wisely manage both mental stress in our own minds, and anguish in the world through wholesome action. Our practice, both on and off the cushion, and its weaving together internally and externally, is important in these complex and challenging times. We will explore some of the teachings directly related to living our lives off the cushion and bringing the wisdom and compassion of this ancient tradition to our modern world.
