IMC-Lewes welcomes returning meditation teacher, Luisa Montero-Diaz, for an evening Dharma talk and a full-day meditation retreat with theme of “The Call to Practicing Internally and Externally.” Non, beginning and experienced meditators are all welcomed to attend this weekend of meditation and discussion.
Montero-Diaz notes that, “By getting quiet and practicing meditation, we begin to see more clearly how to uproot the seeds of our suffering which come from greed, hatred and ignorance. The Buddha taught that there are ways we can explore and wisely manage both mental stress in our own minds, and anguish in the world through wholesome action. Our practice, both on and off the cushion, and its weaving together internally and externally, is important in these complex and challenging times. We will explore some of the teachings directly related to living our lives off the cushion and bringing the wisdom and compassion of this ancient tradition to our modern world.”
The Dharma Talk along with discussion and refreshments will be held from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall on Friday October 6.
The full day retreat will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday October 7, also at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall. Dharma talk, sitting and walking meditation, and lunch are included. If attendees can and would like to, they may bring a dish to share.
The suggested donation for Friday’s talk is $10.00 and $45.00 for the Saturday retreat, which includes lunch. For those with limited income, 50%, or any amount of the suggested donation offered is welcome. If budget does not allow for a donation, simply show up, no explanation is needed.
