We have learned that having a common topic or theme for a period of time has helped give continuity across the various IMC-L programs.
The current focus for our sangha’s study is “Deepening our Practice on and Off the Cushion.” What we do on the cushion informs what we do in our lives, moment to moment, and that what we study off the cushion helps direct some of our meditation in addition to the path we take in our daily lives. We think this focus will provide an opportunity to look at how to bring our meditation into our lives, as well as how to become more skillful while meditating on the cushion.
To provide a structure for our exploration of the deepening of practice, Christina Feldman’s Compassion: Listening to the Cries of the World has been chosen as the book the Dharma Study Group will work with in the second half of 2017. This is a fine book from an outstanding teacher, and will be a good resource as we explore how to how to bring our meditation practice into our daily lives.
Please join us in this exploration.
